Our method
How we check every listing
A directory is only useful if its details are right. Every price on Viaranch comes from the business itself, with its source and the date we checked it.
- 1We read the business's own website
Rates, ride lengths, minimum ages, weight limits and seasons, as the business publishes them.
- 2We record the source and the date
Each price keeps a link to the page it comes from. Listings show when they were last checked.
- 3Businesses confirm their details
Owners can confirm or correct their listing at any time. Confirmed listings are labeled as such.

Questions riders ask
How much does a horseback ride cost?
A one-hour guided trail ride costs $25 to $300 per person, typically around $75. A two-hour ride costs $50 to $395, typically $135. Longer rides often include a packed lunch or a cookout. These are the prices each business publishes on its own website.
How old do kids need to be to ride?
Among the businesses that state it, the minimum age ranges from 1 to 18 years, and 8 is the most common minimum. Several outfitters also offer pony rides or lead-line rides for younger children, so check each listing.
Is there a weight limit for riders?
Yes, most outfitters set one for the safety of riders and horses. Where it is published, the limit ranges from 200 to 325 lbs. The exact figure is shown on each listing when the business states it.
How much does a ranch stay cost?
Ranch stays with riding cost $185 to $1,500 per person per night, typically around $580. Most packages are all-inclusive: lodging, meals and daily rides. Many ranches book by the week in summer.
When is the riding season?
It depends on the region. In the Rocky Mountains most trail rides run from late May through September, while in the desert Southwest and the South many stables ride all year and avoid the summer heat. Each listing shows the season the business publishes.
Do you charge a booking fee?
No. Viaranch is free to use and you book directly with the business, at the price it sets. When a business uses an online booking system, we link straight to it.
